Donald Hilton, M.D., University of Texas Health Sciences Center
Biologically, masculinity, and femininity are inherently expressed through the effects of the related sex steroids; testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone. It is the balance of these hormones that determines biological male and female characteristics. In this session, Dr. Donald Hilton examines current views regarding masculinity and consider them in the context of history and cultural pressure. He explores masculinity as defined by its relationship to femininity and discusses possible solutions to modern “male malaise”.
