Relationships 101: Finding True Love in Today's World

Physical and Emotional Responses to Sexual Intimacy

Most American young people still desire a lasting, committed intimate relationship. However, many of these same people tend to experiment in college and attempt intimacy with multiple partners, leaving them disillusioned about finding fulfillment in a long-term relationship.  Dr. Toby Taylor will discuss the physical and psychological implications that results from sexual intimacy with multiple partners in contrast to those of long-term relational intimacy. His presentation will concern the physical and emotional aspects of sexual health, including specific topics relating to sexual activity, like: sexually transmitted infections, infertility, mental illness, and mental wellness.

Dr. Toby Taylor, M.D.

Toby Taylor, M.D. attended Harding University before attending the University of Arkansas Medical School, where he graduated with an MD in 1993. His residency took place at theUniversity of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Arkansas Children's Hospital. He is now a family physician in Utica, NY.

Board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, Dr. Taylor focuses his medical practice on relationship-based, or family, medicine. This particular form of medical practice is founded on the idea that patient and doctor know and trust each other and continue a relationship over many years. Such doctors are often now replaced by specialists, hospitalists, urgent care, and office-only primary care doctors. Dr. Toby is interested in continuing the tradition of family medicine, however, and does whatever it takes to care for his patients.  This often includes doing hospital rounds, being available for urgent office visits, calling on the family, making home visits, as well as conducting routine health care.  He started his practice in Utica 13 years ago and plan to be here for his patients for the next 30 years.

He has been married for 21 years and is the father of two boys, ages 16 and 15, and a girl aged 11.  He enjoys running, soccer, and watching his kids play.
